for my website to fit in with my video game aesthetic I did a photoshoot with Angeleen to recreate classic video game sprites. this was inspired by visual novels and storytelling games how characters are not animated but have sprites for each action. this was done so she can be shown on the website and advertising materials

I took many different poses and shots to give myself maximum option as to what her sprite does.

I also took some close up face photos to give myself the option to create a more RPG text based sprite

30 second clip

From my pitch I developed a stronger idea of the entire brand of my music video , outside of just the video itself. I was forced to consider and strengthen intertextual links and ideas for my music video. the 30 second clip gave me the opportunity to practice the use of Capcut specifically for the purposes of a music video and thus shown me the practical applications of the style and genre. my feedback has provided me with some great ideas I hadn't thought of before particularly in terms of technique and cinematography. moving forward from this I will research into the specific conventions I need to adhere to and further consider the intertextual links I will use ( particularly since the internet and its culture is important for my brand identity).

Intertextual reference to Marilyn monroe (gentlemen prefer blondes). Symbolism with the hearts and red and pink  colour palette show romance and love. Parody of consumerism and capitalistic expectations of romance. Showing that women aren’t impressed by expensive gifts

Theme of positivity vs reality. Shots replicated with positive and negative outlooks. The use of colour (saturated and bright / desaturated and dark ) really shows how people imagine London vs how it really is

Circus theme, she is presented in a variety of ways , as a clown , in a revealing costume (specifically in verses discussing public opinion of her at that a time) and covered in gems with tears made of gems (alluding to how she was percieved as a gold digger). Her ex boyfriend represented by a tiger (themes of predatory and fear)

Many fast shots showing different emotions pyrotechnics show rage and literally burning the relationship. Shots of her eyes humanise her and show her upset. Colour palette shifts from cool clinical lighting to fire lit oranges.
